Ghazal no.37

1.
ہوئی تاخیر تو کچھ باعثِ تاخیر بھی تھا
آپ آتے تھے مگر کوئی عناں گیر بھی تھا
2.
تم سے بے جا ہے مجھے اپنی تباہی کا گلہ
اس میں کچھ شائبۂ خوبیِ تقدیر بھی تھا
3.
تو مجھے بھول گیا ہو تو پتا بتلا دوں
کبھی فتراک میں تیرے کوئی نخچیر بھی تھا
4.
قید میں ہے ترے وحشی کو وہی زلف کی یاد
ہاں کچھ اک رنجِ گراں باریِ زنجیر بھی تھا
5.
بجلی اک کوند گئی آنکھوں کے آگے تو کیا
بات کرتے کہ میں لب تشنۂ تقریر بھی تھا
6.
یوسف اس کو کہوں اور کچھ نہ کہے خیر ہوئی
گر بگڑ بیٹھے تو میں لائقِ تعزیر بھی تھا
7.
دیکھ کر غیر کو ہو کیوں نہ کلیجا ٹھنڈا
نالہ کرتا تھا ولے طالبِ تاثیر بھی تھا
8.
پیشے میں عیب نہیں رکھیے نہ فرہاد کو نام
ہم ہی آشفتہ سروں میں وہ جواں میر بھی تھا
9.
ہم تھے مرنے کو کھڑے پاس نہ آیا نہ سہی
آخر اس شوخ کے ترکش میں کوئی تیر بھی تھا
10.
پکڑے جاتے ہیں فرشتوں کے لکھے پر نا حق
آدمی کوئی ہمارا دمِ تحریر بھی تھا
11.
ریختے کے تمہیں استاد نہیں ہو غالب
کہتے ہیں اگلے زمانے میں کوئی میر بھی تھا

हुई ताख़ीर तो कुछ बा`इस-ए ताख़ीर भी था
आप आते थे मगर कोई `इनां-गीर भी था
2.
तुम से बे-जा है मुझे अपनी तबाही का गिलह
उस में कुछ शाइबह-ए ख़ूबी-ए तक़दीर भी था
3.
तू मुझे भूल गया हो तो पता बतला दूं
कभी फ़ितराक में तेरे कोई नख़चीर भी था
4.
क़ैद में है तिरे वहशी को वुही ज़ुलफ़ की याद
हां कुछ इक रनज-ए गिरां-बारी-ए ज़नजीर भी था
5.
बिजली इक कोंद गई आंखों के आगे तो कया
बात करते कि मैं लब-तिशनह-ए तक़रीर भी था
6.
यूसुफ़ उस को कहूं और कुछ न कहे ख़ैर हुई
गर बिगड़ बैठे तो मैं लाइक़-ए त`ज़ीर भी था
7.
देख कर ग़ैर को हो कयूं न कलेजा ठनडा
नालह करता था वले तालिब-ए तासीर भी था
8.
पेशे में `ऐब नहीं रखये न फ़रहाद को नाम
हम ही आशुफ़तह-सरों में वह जवां मीर भी था
9.
हम थे मरने को खड़े पास न आया न सही
आख़िर उस शोख़ के तरकश में कोई तीर भी था
10.
पकड़े जाते हैं फ़रिशतों के लिखे पर ना-हक़
आदमी कोई हमारा दम-ए तहरीर भी था
11.
रेख़ते के तुमहीं उसताद नहीं हो ग़ालिब
कहते हैं अगले ज़माने में कोई मीर भी था

bijlii ik ko;Nd ga))ii aa;Nkho;N ke aage to kyaa
baat karte kih mai;N lab-tishnah-e taqriir bhii thaa
6.
yuusuf us ko kahuu;N aur kuchh nah kahe ;xair hu))ii
gar biga;R bai;The to mai;N laa))iq-e ta((ziir bhii thaa
7.
dekh kar ;Gair ko ho kyuu;N nah kalejaa ;Than;Daa
naalah kartaa thaa vale :taalib-e taa;siir bhii thaa
8.
peshe me;N ((aib nahii;N rakhye nah farhaad ko naam
ham hii aashuftah-saro;N me;N vuh javaa;N miir bhii thaa
9.
ham the marne ko kha;Re paas nah aayaa nah sahii
aa;xir us sho;x ke tarkash me;N ko))ii tiir bhii thaa
10.
pak;Re jaate hai;N farishto;N ke likhe par naa-;haq
aadmii ko))ii hamaaraa dam-e ta;hriir bhii thaa
11.
re;xte ke tumhii;N ustaad nahii;N ho ;Gaalib
kahte hai;N agle zamaane me;N ko))ii miir bhii thaa

Translation

1.
If delay is happened, then there must be some cause for delay,
She was on the way, perhaps there were some restrainers.
2.
It is improper for me to complain to you about my destruction,
In that, even some little sign of contamination of good fortune was.
3.
If you have forgotten me, then I should tell you the address,
At one time in your prey-carry-bag, there was also some hunt.
4.
In confinement your bedlamite one has that very same memory of lock of hairs,
Oh yes, there was some small grief of heavily burdened chains.
5.
If a single lightning-bolt flashed before my eyes, then so what,
If only she had conversed, as I was also parched-lipped for speech.
6.
If I would call her beloved, and she would say nothing, my goodness,
If she would start altercation, then I was apt for punishment.
7.
Having seen the other, why should not my heart be cool,
He used to lament, but even then was desirous of effect.
8.
In one's profession there is no fault, do not call Farhaad a bad name,
Among only us restless-headed ones,was that died at young age.

I was ready to die, if she did not come near, then it is OK,
Ultimately, in that mischievous's quiver was there a single arrow.
10.
I am captured on the writing of Angels,it is futile,
Was any person of mine also there at the time of writing.
11.
Only you are not the master of Ghazal "Ghalib",
it is said that in earlier time there was even "Mir".
